PPD is proud to announce their new light weight plastic, drop-in replacement ammunition case solutions for small caliber arms replacing existing metal ammunition boxes.

Nammo Raufoss AS, Norway has awarded PPD a 273 Million DKK ($47.5 million) contract for the design, development, qualification and marketing of light weight, high density plastic, small caliber ammunition cases. The agreement (MOU) with Nammo Roufoss AS spans a 10 year time period to manufacture drop-in replacement ammunition cases for 5.56mm & 12.7mm ammunition. This new design concept for ammunition cases will significantly reduce the weight by 50%, improve storage and packaging stability, enhanced thermal features and provide increased shock resistance.

Design and development has been completed. PPD has manufactured prototypes and is now entering the final test and qualification phase according to military standards.

PlastPack Defence (PPD) Awarded 273 Million DKK Contract

Thank you for visiting PlastPack Defence at Eurosatory 2014, Danish Pavilion, where we showed our LWAC “First Production Tool Samples”.

During the show we had the pleasure to welcome the Danish Minister of Defence, Nicolai Wammen, and the Danish Delegation in our stand. Nicolai Wammen showed great interest in our LWAC, Light  Weight Ammunition Cases.

The Danish Minister of Defence, Nicolai Wammen physically compared the old steel box and the LWAC, Light Weight Ammunition Case, and realized that LWAC saves more than 60% of the weight on each case.

It perfectly matches the Green Defence initiatives.

The Korean Delegation also visit our stand and was very excited about the weight saving. The weight saving means saving cost in the logistical systems and saving CO2 emmisions.

Eurosatory is one of the world's largest exhibitions of Land and Air-land defence and security equipment and we had Visitors and Delegations from all over the world.

LWAC, Light Weight Ammunition Case, is not only a case.

With inbuilt RFID it is The Intelligent Ammunition Case for integration into BMS and Logistical Systems

We had a very successful show and met many of our partners and customers.

PPD to develop new PA-120 LWAC® for incentive munition
together with Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH

The constant effort to optimize the logistical and tactical storage of ammunition continues with the PA-120 in a close collaboration with Rheinmetall. Weight reduction, improved logistics, reduced transportation risk is just a few, of the many, unique features this new model will bring to market in the expanding light weight ammunition packaging range.

DSEi 2017 (stand N3-660, DK Pavilion), will act as the scene of the unveiling of the first 3D printed PA-120, incorporating all of the features and learnings from the LWAC®-M2A1. It is a one-to-one replacement, saves about 2/3 of the weight, has improved stacking capability, is unable to inflict damage to the rounds in transport and will vaporise in fire, keeping forces safe from metal shrapnel in case of an explosion.

“The corporation with Rheinmetall only strengthens our belief in what we do. Combined with the constant restrains on defence budgets and rising environmental awareness corporations such as this, enforces our strategic work. Together with the M2A1, the PA-120 will ensure that the most commonly used ammunition storage containers are available in a light weight, cost saving alternative”. Says Jan Engmann, CEO of PPD.

The PA-120 will be available in the same colour variations as the M2A1 (green, red, yellow and blue) to further reduce the logistical necessities, when transporting ammunition from theatre/training to and from storage sites.
